3 year break...

Well its been a 3 year break for me. Not really, I just forgot about this blog. SO, with that said, expect to see more updates.

Thats right. Its GAME OVER for Vundo Trojan. It was a long tough battle
but victory was mine. After two days of intense battle back and forth
for dominance, I called in the Calvary (keiver) and we put the nail in the coffin!!

Quick summary:
Day 1
explorer.exe would keep shutting down or restarting over & over & over & over. So I downloaded spy doctor and it found spyware. Well I noticed spy doctor would keep blocking eplorer.exe from access the file "ddabx.dll"
in the system32 folder. Well I ran 3 different antivirus and all of
them found the same file, but none of them could do anything with it.

Day 2
After
a restless night and a day at work, I came home to continue the fight.
I was determined to win this battle. I was NOT going to lose all of my
files to this little fucker. So I went to the knowledge Armory (google.com).
I found tons of information on this virus, but none of it helped. I
tried EVERYTHING. Well at one point I couldn't even download files
directly from a website, and I couldn't run any program unless it was
through task manager.
Well I tried to manually delete the file,
but kept getting an error message "can't delete this file, it is in use
by another program". So I came across this program called "unlocker". I
still couldn't download it from the site so I had somebody .zip it and
send it to me in an e-mail. Well I tried to install it and couldn't
even install it through task manager.
So the fight went on, about 5 hours later keiver sends me a link to unlocker
(same link I tried to use before). I said what the hell and tried to
download it and IT DOWNLOADED. So I then tried to install it AND IT
INSTALLED. So I gave the virus one last warning, or be killed. Well the
virus didn't listen so I went to the infected file, right click, unlock
and found out that the infected file had attached itself to iasss.exe. So I deleted the file, restarted and my computer has never been in better health!!

Solution for vundo trojan:
- find the infected file via spyware detection software
- download unlocker
- go to the infected file
- right click
- select unlocker
- delete file
- restart

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.
If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough . Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.)

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing . Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting .

PHP & headaches go hand and hand

Well with the lack of dev work going on in MG these days, I had to start doing a little PHP work myself. (which btw, isn't my best work)

I got a lot done, but not enough. I just wish we could find somebody that would stay around for more than 6 months. We had a great PHP guy (BlackJayde), but real life took him away. PoLiX is busy with sscentral's website (I should be working on that instead of screwing around with MG).

But after a few hours of work here and there & a headache, I got a pretty good start on a php script I have been wanting. After asking people for about 3 months to do it, I decided I would just do it myself. Its not the best but it'll work.

I've got about 3 more PHP projects that need to be done, so it looks like I'll keep that headache for a few more months.

Softball Season comes to a brutal close

Well our Arlington County Fall 2007 Softball season came to a close Tuesday Night. We lost both games, 17-7 & 14-13. We ended the season with a record of 5-13. That is the worst record the team has had in its history......every......

The season wasn't a total lost. I won the Team Batting Title with a Batting Average of .585 . I went 4 for 4 & 3 for 4 in the last two games.

We are still waiting to vote on the Team MVP, Best Glove, Rookie of the Year awards.

Wow, its been awhile

Well like I predicted, I lost interest in the whole "blogging" craze for awhile. But I am back, and promise (sort of) not to lose interest again. I will post some updates soon.

The Premier League Professional Finals will be played Nov 12, 2006 @ 3pm EST. It will be a best of 3 match. It will be Assassins vs. Unhallowed. Assassins have won 4 of the past 5 Pro Championships.

What is Premier League you ask? Premier League is the highest skill level. Premier League is the current evolution of the original Subspace League started in 1996 and is based on Standard Subspace Settings (as opposed to one-shot, ctf, and superships zones). Premier takes place every weekend in SSCX Chaos/League SVS 4v4 subarenas and involves 60+ squads in 3 league divisions. The basic competition format is a free-for-all melee between two squads with four pilots in combat. This league is considered to have the highest level of competition in all of Subspace.
